POSITION SUMMARY:
- You will work with local governments around the country, conducting organizational, operational, process improvement, and staffing studies. In our projects, we are independent and objective analysts, and our greatest value to clients is our ability to identify innovative solutions to the issues each client faces.
- Due to the analytical nature of this job, individuals with a data analytics background and/or local government experience as a management analyst, budget analyst, or financial analyst are well-suited for this position.
TYPICAL WORK RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work collaboratively on project teams to evaluate our clients’ current operations, and recommend operational, policy, and organizational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
- Analyze complex datasets, including workload data, online survey data, and service needs data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Create compelling data visualizations to communicate insights effectively. Build and refine analytical models that address client needs and support strategic decision-making.
- Build a case for improvement using data, benchmarking analysis, comparative / industry research, and stakeholder input.
- Conduct interviews of client staff and external stakeholders.
- Conduct comparative research from sources such as online research, budget documents, phone outreach, and other sources.
- Assist with developing findings, conclusions, recommendations, interim and final reports, and presentations for client projects.’
- Maintain a focus on delivering high-quality, timely, and insightful analysis and deliverables to each client.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience working within or an understanding of the local government sector is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with coursework or experience in statistics, data analysis, and process improvement.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, demonstrated during the interview process.
- Skills in utilizing AI to automate workflows, build scripts, conducting research and analysis.
- Strong communication and writing skills, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- A self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to work in a small team that is spread out geographically.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
- Professional designations or certifications in your field of expertise are preferred.
- Ability to travel overnight (up to 25%) to various client locations.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- The base salary range for 2026 is $57,000-$91,400, based on education and experience.
